Justin Bieber – Confident

Released: 2014

Directed by Colin Tilley

In the video for “Confident”, Justin Bieber and his dance team dance after a girl who is disinterested in him. The dance team provides some interesting choreography; however, Bieber and Chance the Rapper remain simplistic in their moves. At times, the video seems as if Justin Bieber is trying to start his own dance craze.

Taylor Swift – Shake it Off

Released: 2014

Directed by Mark Romanek

Taylor Swift’s zany video for “Shake it Off”, has intentional bad dance moves but a good message. Taylor Swift is shown in the video doing a variety of wacky dance moves while in different dancer outfits. The video and song attempts to persuade people that you shouldn’t care if people give you criticism.

Ne-Yo – Beautiful Monster

Released: 2010

Directed by Wayne Isham

The unique video for “Beautiful Monster”, is a mixture of a Matrix parody and a typical dance club scene. Early in the video, Ne-Yo is shown dance fighting a set of Asian twins in a clear reference to The Matrix Reloaded. Ne-Yo then enters a club where a bunch of dancers are busting out some Michael Jackson-eque dance moves. The technical choreography in the video is highly impressive and can be used as inspiration for a dance routine.
