The Killers – Mr. Brightside

Released: 2004

Directed by Sophie Muller

The video for “Mr. Brightside” features three men vying for the attention of a burlesque dancer. The dancing, costumes, and theme of the video is very similar to Moulin Rouge. The video was also made during the height of The Killers popularity and won an MTV VMA for Best New Artist in a Video.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – Don’t Come Around Here No More

Released: 1985

Directed by Jeff Stein

One of the most iconic videos ever made, “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, shows Tom Petty as the Mad Hatter hosting a tea party for Alice and the Heartbreakers. The wacky symbolism and eerie pursuit of Alice is a perfect match for Tom Petty’s unique personality. However, the theme of the video is a far departure from the songs lyrics about a scorned lover.

Lil Wayne – Lollipop

Released: 2008

Directed by Gil Green

The most notable music video Lil Wayne created was for his song, “Lollipop.” Rather than creating a video that focused on the risqué lyrics, Lil Wayne decided to show himself partying in a limo and mansion. The most infamous shot of the video is of Lil Wayne playing an electric guitar on the roof of the limo.
