The artistic use of CGI and green-sceen in the video amplifies unique Egyptian culture and history. “Dark Horse” is the first female video to reach a billion views and is ranked as the 14th most popular YouTube video of all time.

Katy Perry – Roar

The “Roar” music video shows Katy Perry turning from a helpless girl lost in a jungle to Jane of the Jungle. Katy Perry is featured roaming throughout the jungle roaring at various animals to show her dominance as an individual and the symbolic power of women in general. At times the CGI is cheesy; however, the video sends a powerful message of staying strong against any haters or doubters. The video has garnered a billion views and has made Kety Perry the first music artist to have two videos with a billion views. “Roar” is Youtube’s 11th most viewed video of all time.

Katy Perry – E.T.

In the music video for “E.T.”, Katy Perry is shown as an extraterrestrial floating through space. The most notable aspect of the video is the multiple “alien” type makeup Katy Perry dons for the video. Her chic dresses and haunting colored eye-contacts creates a feeling that Katy Perry is truly out of this world. The music video for “E.T.” ended up winning MTV VMA awards for “Best Collaboration” and “Best Special Effects.”
